Florida Oil Spill Forum | Live | Bayboro Harbor

The Palladium Theatre near Bayboro Harbor, Florida.
Florida Oil Spill Forum - The media has surrounded the building and it is standing room only. We are live with Bill Smith "The Man Who Knew" who accurately predicted the disaster potential for the small Gulfside community of Indian Shores, Florida.

We will be providing live updates throughout the evening. Susan Glickman and Dean USF Dean Bill Hogarth briefed the crowd with photos, slides, and scientific data from the recent voyage of the University of South Florida's research ship. We have discussed that voyage and some of the USF findings.

Underwater Drone Deployed

USF, under the tutelege of Dean Bill Hogarth, has deployed an underwater drone near the Deepwater Horizon that is programmed to return to the scientists in Florida. The drone has been transmitting water quality data via satellite and should be recovered by scientists in Florida soon.

Oil Five Miles From Cuba

The oil is 5 miles off the Cuban coast as of this morning, June 15, 2010, according to scientists at the forum. The West Coast of Florida  as of today has oil between 100 and 200 miles offshore.

Dean Hogarth questioned the likelihood of the relief wells actually being successful by August 2010. Apparently directional drilling technology usually is accurate within around 6 feet. The oil disaster Deepwater Horizon well bore is far smaller than the targets these drillers are used to hitting.
