First Louisiana Turtles Released

Rescued Turtles Released
Florida Oil Spill notes that the first sea turtles have been released in Louisiana since the oil spill. "The Audubon Nature Institute, NOAA, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries today conduct the first sea turtle release of its kind since the BP oil spill started."

Release Location: "50 miles off the coast of Grand Isle, where the turtles were rescued from areas of heavily oil-stricken sargasm grass, between 30 and 50 miles off the coast of Louisiana. "

Video | Latest Oil Spill Footage

From video this morning we learned that Pensacola, Florida and Gulf Shores, Alabama have petroleum products washing ashore. Officials also said that their prediction of oil flow being brought to a trickle next week were unfounded. The toll: 265 dead turtles have been found, so far, including the rare Kemps Ridley Sea Turtle.
