Florida Legislature Bounces Oil Drilling Amendment in 52 Minutes

Drilling Ban Dropped
Florida Oil Spill .com has been following the big Non Hearing on the Drilling Ban in Tallahassee, FL where a ban on drilling was to be considered. The debate centered on when to adjourn the special session called by Governor Crist. The substance of such a drilling ban was never addressed. The session was adjourned in 52 minutes and nothing was accomplished. Those shutting down the session appear to be more interested in getting drilling rights for private corporations to continue to profit from Florida's natural resources.

Fun Facts: The Senate never got in to session due to the shut down of efforts to ban drilling by the Florida House of Representatives. The 52 minute session may be the shortest Special Session in Florida history.
